Nan province, on the border with Laos, is one of the least visited parts of the Northern Region of Thailand. Nan town is the only major settlement in the province with large parts of this remote up designated as National Park land.
The two major National Parks in the province are Doi Phu Kha National Park and Khun Nan National Park. These two fantastic and wild areas contain high mountains, waterfalls, rare plants and wildlife including wild boars and black bears.
Nan town itself has a long history and some interesting temples, city walls and archaeological sites. Nan is a laid back place with a small number of foreign visitors that remains great value for money. The food is interesting and cheap.
